Splinter Cell is back! Although not as you probably expected. Elizabeth Loverso, Vice President of Product Development UbisoftRed Storm Entertainment joined today’s Facebook Connect event and revealed that the publisher is bringing two major franchises to VR: Splinter Cell and Assassin’s Creed. They will be exclusive to Oculus platforms.
In Splinter Cell, it will be a revival of a series of covert actions that have been welcomed by many fans … though probably not as expected. The franchise has not been properly paid since 2013. Splinter Cell: Blacklist. Of course, you’ll need an Oculus VR to play this new game.
Assassin’s Creed, meanwhile, is a healthy franchise that still receives regular contributions. The next game, Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, will debut on November 10th.
Details of both games are scarce at this time. Red Storm is a leading development of both games, supported by other Ubisoft studios.
Ubisoft invests heavily in VR. Last week, she announced Far Cry VR: Dive Into Insanity, which brings one of its largest franchises into the space-based realm of virtual reality. Previous Ubisoft VR efforts include Eagle Flight and Star Trek: Bridge Crew.
