MANILA, Philippines. The House’s Youth and Sports Committee on Tuesday adopted a resolution calling on the Interagency Working Group (IATF) on Emerging Infectious Diseases to classify national athletes who intend to compete or compete for seats at the upcoming Tokyo Olympics and the Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games). be preferred for COVID-19 vaccination.
At its online meeting, the committee adopted the Court’s resolution no. Presented by Vice-President Mikee Romero with the forthcoming Tokyo Olympics, SEA Games and other international sporting events.
In a resolution, Romero said this year’s Tokyo Olympics will be held July 23–8, and the SEA Games will be held November 21–2. In Vietnam.
The selection stages for the two major sporting events will take place as early as April and May this year, Romero said.
“It is imperative that athletes in our country be ranked among the leaders so that their vaccination against COVID-19 can be introduced as soon as possible to ensure that they are allowed to participate in the selection stages,” Romero said in the resolution. .
Romero said national athletes dedicate their physical condition to training to further improve their craft and give the country honor and fame.
“The state recognizes the importance of sports development in promoting social progress and full human development. The state also recognizes the tireless and selfless victim of our country’s athletes, “said Romero.
The resolution will now be forwarded to plenary for further consideration.
